Feast your eyes on these gooey delicious brownies that are low in calories and guilt free! These eggless, oil and butter free brownies are loaded with high protein and versatile chickpeas. This refined sugar free recipe is thanks to the rich and naturally sweet pitted dates in the recipe!
I am a chocolate lover so searching for healthier versions or fewer caloric recipes of chocolate brownies is always a mission of mine. I made avocado brownies before and although they were delicious (and extremely rich due to high fat content) you could only have a small square to stay on track. That's where these yummy chickpea brownies come in... the low fat and calories allows me to have 1 big slice (in all honesty i ate 2 a day)... not sorry though because they're guilt free remember?
Don't get freaked out by the chickpeas, they are such a versatile ingredient and they need a helping hand when it comes to flavour because they don't taste of much anyways so manipulating them into a sweet dish is a great dessert idea! Whoever thought of this.. thank you!
Ingredients:
1 can of drained chickpeas
Frylight 1 cal spray for greasing
1 pack of dark chocolate chips (or milk chocolate) 1/2 for melting and 1/2 for folding in
100g of pitted dates
50ml of hot water (for the dates)
3 tablespoons of skinny syrup (i used salted caramel)
2 tablespoons of palm-oil free peanut butter
2 tablespoons of plain flour
pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
however many pecan nuts you want (hazelnuts, walnuts etc.)
If you just throw everything into a food processor then it would probably be smoother but if you don't (like me!) then do the best you can!
